Ethereum Rockets Past $2,100 as BlackRock Files for Ethereum ETF with NASDAQ - Decrypt

BlackRock, the mighty lion of asset management, has set its eyes on Ethereum, ready to pounce with an exciting new move. 🦁

They've left their prints on a proposal for an "iShares Ethereum Trust", aiming to give us jungle dwellers a chance to ride the Ethereum wave on a good old-fashioned stock exchange.📈

The Ethereum rocket is blasting off, with a 10% leap following the news and soaring way past $2,100, a height not seen since April. ETH is now up by a thrilling 30% for the month and a jaw-dropping 85% over one year ago. 🚀

A trust for Ethereum has been registered in Delaware by BlackRock. This could be a precursor to the big move – an application for regulatory approval of an ETF. An Ethereum ETF could open the floodgates for billions of dollars of new investment from us retail investors.

The fund's shares would squawk under the ticker "ETH" and would closely mimic the price of Ethereum held by the trust. The sponsor? None other than BlackRock's cub, iShares.

It's a waiting game now, folks! We're yet to see when BlackRock will make its formal application to the SEC for approval of the ETF. Despite some previous rejections for Bitcoin ETFs, there's a glimmer of hope as the SEC recently approved the first U.S. Bitcoin futures ETFs and allowed Ethereum futures ETFs trading.
